let the sunshine in

we finally got a ladder to get to the roof and found out that we cannot open the hatch to the roof b/c it is tarred over and we cannot access the skylight to clean it from the outside. So after spending the whole winter wanting to get the skylight clean, we realized the way to clean it was from the inside! remember the old pic?
Such nice light all day, even on the rainy days. Just in time for summer heat….

We removed the hedge last weekend.  Well, Janie removed the hedge last weekend.  Ok, actually our neighbor removed the hedge last weekend.  Janie wanted to do the digging, but he sort of took over.  I watched for a little while, but I had a frisbee game in the afternoon and it takes me almost an hour and a half to ride to all the Inwood Park…

Janie tore up all the ivy in our teeny tiny backyard to make space for our raised beds.

Subway Map

Yesterday I broke down an old drawing table that was built into the wall in the basement and I found an old subway map stuck between the table and the wall.  I have no idea how old it is, but it was with an envelope postmarked 1969. (I just googled NYC subway maps and of course there’s a site dedicated to vintage New York City subway maps.  Looks like it’s from ‘68 or ‘69)
