another wall revealed.

The underlying paint color is almost spot on to match our crappy couch….maybe we’ll just leave it like this.

So I have about 6 books I have been reading about how to grow a garden and what to grow. All of them advise to not go through the seed catalogues to buy seeds, but to go through grocery lists and grow what you normally buy. f that. I went through 4 catalogues and the one that had the most that I wanted, i ordered from. My guide was, if my grocery store had this item, would I buy it? I know the real question is: would I buy 10 lbs of it?, but whatever. Here are the seeds I ordered. Brad rolls his eyes and carries on with his “work” and stewart is happy with the selection. I chose Baker creek heirloom seeds ( www.rareseeds.com) which is a company which resides in Mansfield Mo (salute) and is run by this dude who sent his first catologue out at 17years old!!! now 11 years later he has a seed empire.

This morning we have a little sprouts with leaves in dirt and in bags.
The sprouts appear to be about the same size in both, so we are going to “bag” the bag process and just plant into dirt. I am naming this guy orbit. In this picture orbit is showing us that mint looks very different from whatever fast growing thing that we threw into the compost in the past 2 years… Will continue to grow some to see what it is, cause I know you are dying to know.

day 6 of bags of seeds have yielded little babies!!!
catnip from seeds about 5years old.

and mint…..mojito, anyone?

I planted seeds 4 days ago. It is 10 weeks before the last frost and this morning we have sprouts!! f that damn groundhog. Spring is soon. at least at 6411! The lovely white backdrop is b/c it is snowing outside….
I planted rosemary, mint, catnip and lunaria (waiting for other seeds to come in mail).

While I wait, I have 2 trials going on. 1. seeds on wet paper towels in ziplok vs 2. seeds in dirt/planter kit thing. I am very excited about the sprouts, keeping in mind the dirt is 1/3 compost from our worm bin. I will note, the sprouts are in all the different planters and they all look the same…maybe some foodstuff seeds from the compost? Maybe we are growing worms? So I will not assume the planter kit thing is the winner until we see the papertowel product and compare, maybe the planter is just better at sprouting weeds. too cute to be weeds, right?
